Alternative Dispute Resolution

Alternative Dispute resolution (ADR) is the use of methods such as mediation and arbitration to resolve a dispute, instead of litigation. Alternative Dispute resolution (ADR) is the use of methods such as mediation and arbitration to resolve a dispute, instead of litigation. ADR is usually less formal, less expensive, and less time-consuming than a trial. ADR can also give more control to individuals in determining when and how their dispute will be resolved. Types of ADR are mediation, arbitration, collaborative law, and pre-trial settlement conferences. Mediators and arbitrators do not provide legal advice and do not act as a lawyer for any party.
A party to any method of ADR should consider retaining the services of a lawyer who will be able to assist them in a dispute or in choosing appropriate methods of ADR, as well as by helping to guide and represent them throughout the process.
